After being highlighted in a lengthy breakdown on TV, the sales of Garcinia Cambogia have sky rocketed through the roof. This in part is due to the clinical study that was highly publicized by America’s favorite doctor on it’s famous TV show. This doctor does not endorse any specific garcinia cambogia extract, but this study was mentioned and does give specific guidelines.

Due to recent popularity, Garcinia Cambogia Extract is all over the media and in multiple published studies that can be found. The most famous clinical study, published in the Current Therapeutic Research® journal, uses a specific type of garcinia cambogia extract that contains 60% Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA).

Participants of this study were between the ages of 21 and 65 years old and split into two randomized groups. The double-blind, placebo controlled human study was administered on moderately obese subjects. Each subject underwent the same computed tomography scan at the umbilical level at –2, 0, 12, and 16 weeks.

The Results of the Famous Clinical Study

After the study was concluded, the subjects showed remarkable fat loss, reduced visceral, subcutaneous, and overall fat areas diminished with the placebo group. Garcinia Cambogia decreased abdominal fat accumulation in all subjects, regardless of age or sex, who had the body fat deposits. The results were significant on any level and surpassed expectations, but taking into account that none of the subjects had to change their diet or daily routines is extraordinary in its own.

Highlighting more positive results, each subject in both groups showed a significant reduction in total cholesterol, food intake, triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins and serum leptin levels, while increasing high-density lipoprotein levels and excretion of urinary fat metabolites both groups.

This study was done specifically on 60% HCA, so if you're going to buy a garcinia cambogia extract, make sure you see it contains at least 60% Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA)! Don’t be fooled by knockoffs.
